Our Community Tradition

About the Scarecrow Festival

Since 1994, the Scarecrow Festival has been a beloved tradition celebrating the heart of our community—creativity, family fun, and hometown pride. What began as a small gathering has grown into a vibrant fall event that draws thousands of visitors each year to Wanatah, IN.

Each year, we come together to enjoy a weekend filled with festive activities, including:

  • Handmade scarecrow displays

  • Local food vendors and crafts

  • Live music and entertainment

  • Family games and kids’ activities

  • Community contests and prizes

Our Mission

The Scarecrow Festival exists to bring the community together through a celebration of fall traditions, creativity, and local spirit. Our goal is to create a safe, family-friendly event that supports local businesses, artists, and volunteers.

Community Powered

The festival is 100% volunteer-run and relies on the dedication of local residents, businesses, schools, and sponsors. From organizing contests to coordinating logistics, we’re proud to have a passionate team that brings the magic to life each year.

Want to be a part of this year’s fun? We’d love to have you!

Thank you for being a part of the Scarecrow Festival legacy—we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
